What a Typical Window Replacement Timeline Looks Like

June 2, 2022

It usually takes around four to eight weeks for your windows to arrive after you’ve ordered them. However, this still depends on the season and the window style you chose.

The type and the number of windows that need to be installed will determine how long the project will take. In today’s post, doors and window installers at TJ Exteriors Inc., discusses a typical window replacement timeline.

First Day

Check each window before they are installed into your home. With a multi-person crew, a set of installers will bring in windows as the other remove windows. Check if the installers have placed drop cloths in your home. You may also cover your plants outside to protect them against dust but they aren’t necessary since most window replacements don’t generate a lot of dust.

And so the installers will continually remove old windows and install new ones. It’s alright to check the window installation from time to time. It’s best to stay at a calling distance should they have questions. You may end up with 10 new windows at the end of the day depending on how many workers there are. The cleanup process will follow. Installers will take their tools, clean the working areas and dispose of the old windows.

Second & Third Days

Installers will continue to remove and replace windows. Once all the windows are in place, the team will start installing the exterior trim of the windows. It will provide the windows with a tight seal against the weather.

Window installation usually ends on the second day in most average-sized houses. Your home will then be cleaned and the windows will be tested. There might be another day to the project if the exterior cladding installation isn’t completed on the second day.
